Job purpose The purpose of the Regulatory Compliance Team is to ensure the risk of non-compliance to regulatory obligations is managed to an acceptable level. This is achieved by; assessing the risk of non-compliance with regulatory obligations across UK Power Networks’ processes; defining and agreeing controls with the Business to mitigate the risks; monitoring and testing the controls to verify they are designed and operating effectively, and finally; to report risks and deviations from controls to Executive Management monthly. Scope and principal requirements * Maintain and develop the UK Power Networks governance, risk and control framework * Analyse, document and monitor regulatory risk and controls * Promote compliance across the Business You will be part of the wider Risk and Assurance team, which includes Corporate Risk Management, Assurance and Business Integrity. This is a great opportunity for you to get oversight over all departments of the Business including Operations, Customer Services, Finance and IT. If you are a seasoned Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) professional you will fit will in the team, alternatively if you are seeking development in GRC, whether second line or third line of defence this could be an excellent opportunity also as training and development will be provided. Qualifications * Professional qualification required – ideally in compliance, audit, accountancy or risk * Relevant degree qualification Skills * Stakeholder management is a key requirement; you will be working with all levels of the Business and will be required to manage important partner relationships including Directors * Interpretation of regulatory requirements; you will support the business to understand areas of ambiguity in regulations * Risk assessment at process and corporate level; you will clearly define risks of non-compliance to regulations * Define controls; you will define the required controls to mitigate risks in a way that can be monitored and reported promptly * Monitor controls; you will be responsible for the testing strategy for your areas of responsibility and agreeing actions with management for any deviations * Help maintain and develop the GRC system and dashboard, using data analytics techniques to find trends and root causes of issues spanning across UK Power Networks; * Organisation skills; you will manage a portfolio of work including multiple assignments and projects and interactions with many stakeholders and will need to be very organised to achieve this, * Analytical; you will be required to analyse and understand business processes in order to define their risks and controls * Good verbal and excellent written English is required to document regulatory reporting processes, risks and controls * Training and awareness experience to promote compliance will be a bonus Experience * We will ask that you have experience gained from audit/assurance and risk roles * We ask that you can demonstrate experience of best practice compliance and control frameworks, compliance monitoring and risk management (industry experience preferable but not essential) * Extensive experience in relation to the identification and testing of essential controls * Proven expertise of process mapping, and writing procedures * Experience of quality assurance systems Health & Safety Responsibilities Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e. public, visitors and employees of other organisations. Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.
