Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are working with CAF Rail UK to source an HSE Consultant to work across the CAF network in the UK. This role will be a contract position until the end of the year. The Opportunity- The HSE consultant is responsible for helping with the implementation of the HSE policy and to develop and apply integrated management systems in line with parent company policies across the rolling stock business in the UK.  Working on the basis of standards and methods defined in Group procedures manuals, the HSE Consultant anticipates and minuses the risk of accidents or incidents in the field of HSE. . Location: Newport, Wales + travel to CAF Depots Role and Responsibilities: Work with the HSE team, to develop the strategy and road map for HSE across the rolling stock business in the UK. Provides professional support and advice to the management team and staff. Implements occupational health and safety systems, and works with HR in relation to the management of occupational health. Responsible for achieving and maintaining ISO45001 and ISO14001 in terms of management methods and procedures and in terms of developing and monitoring rolling stock and depot installations. Assists staff in respect of compliance with relevant legislation, client standards and contractual arrangements. Drives the philosophy of safety ownership throughout all levels. Engages staff and managers to maximise improvements in safety performance. Trains and guides staff on new working methods, procedures and instructions. Provides support in developing, reviewing and monitoring the HSE plan, objectives and targets. Provides positive leadership and promotes the adoption of best practice. Develops, promotes and monitors HSE culture. Leads and directs functional management for HSE team. Identifies areas of risk and develops measures to reduce and control. Identifies initiatives to improve performance and assists in managing areas of poor performance. Produces HSE KPIs / performance reports as required. Promptly alert line and functional management to significant accidents and incidents. Responsible for reviewing accident and incident HSE reports and investigations. Acts as lead person for HSE inspections and audits. Regular visits to the out-based depots in the UK Co-ordinates and complies with the CAF Group HSE strategies.
