Role: Data & GDPR Officer Location: East Kent Salary: £80 - £130/day Contract: Long-term, maternity cover Are you looking to work in education? Do you have experience working in administration, undertaking data support as well as Cover lessons in a school? GSL Education are looking for a Data and GDPR Officer to join a client school located in East Kent. You will be working alongside a friendly admin team, undertaking data support, and ensuring that their Management Information System (Arbor) runs smoothly and that the school is GDPR compliant. You will need to be numerate and IT adept and have familiarity with Excel. Training will be provided. The successful candidate will need to be a seasoned professional with excellent customer service and communication skills, whilst creating and maintaining an efficient and effective data support system for the school. You will understand the importance of GDPR compliance and be able to explain to staff how best to go about this. The day to day running of the school MIS alongside creation of reports, data interrogation and supporting with timetable creation will all be within your mandate. Individuals who are also willing to work as Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistants will get the added opportunity of earning on a daily basis or in long-term roles after this post has been completed. Duties and Responsibilities include: To input the new timetable before September and upgrade year groupings for the new academic year, including setting up of new groupings To print all students’ timetables at the beginning of the new academic year To maintain the management information system (Arbor), entering baselines, setting up reporting sessions, and linking subjects at the start of the academic year To update timetable changes for teaching staff, rooming and sets both on MIS (Arbor) To add and remove students for in year admissions and complete new students timetables as necessary To maintain whole school student listing including options, foundation and core sets and tutor groups To input enrichment activity timetables each term and allocated correct students to ensure accurate registers To ensure teaching staff have entered data at reporting times, chasing where necessary. Compile feedback from reports and direct parental comments to relevant teachers. To download and import report information onto 4Matrix from Arbor To organise teacher timetables and schedule appointments for parents for Progress Review Evenings. To organise teachers’ refreshments and seating plan for the hall (liaising with Premises staff). Advise the school and its employees about their obligations under current data protection law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) training will be provided Develop an in-depth understanding of the school’s processing operations, information systems, data security processes and needs, and administrative rules and procedures Monitor the school’s compliance with data protection law Ensure the school’s policies are followed, through coordinating staff training and conducting internal data protection audits. Advise on and assist the school with carrying out data protection impact assessments, if necessary. Act as a contact point for individuals whose data is processed (for example, staff, pupils and parents), including subject access requests. Maintain a record of the school’s data processing activities Work with external stakeholders, such as suppliers or members of the community, on data protection issues. Take responsibility for fostering a culture of data protection throughout the school.
