Nicholson Hird Ltd is working in partnership with a well-established multinational manufacturer in the recruitment of an accomplished Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to lead and support all HSE projects and programmes on a diverse, technically complex and high hazard manufacturing facility This progressive manufacturer seek a HSE Manager to support the site in continuous improvement, to develop and sustain ‘world class’ levels of HSE behaviours and culture, providing leadership and expertise in best practice around HSE and legal compliance, and coaching and advising functional leaders. This person will work with the SLT to develop the SHE strategy for the site, driving ongoing behavioural safety initiatives, encouraging visible safety leadership, providing consistent process hazard analysis and ensuring root cause investigation of all incidents and near misses to ensure corrective action every time. Key skills * Qualified to minimum degree level in a safety related discipline – BSc, MSc, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent * GradIOSH or CMIOSH preferred * Significant experience specialising in a Safety Leadership role, within a ‘high hazard’ manufacturing environment is essential * Previous experience in manufacturing is essential * Experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong safety culture, and good evidence of a modern and progressive approach to SHE * Can quote strong examples of enhancing safety culture through behavioural safety programmes * Experience in a DSEAR environment * Experience in process safety management (PSM) – process hazard analysis (PHA) is highly advantageous * Previous experience is root cause problem solving and leading root cause analysis investigations with multifunctional teams * Sound knowledge of all current UK Health and Safety legislation in high risk manufacturing environments * Strong leadership skills and an inclusive, motivational and coaching style of management * Ability to enthuse and engage others on all things Health and Safety related * Excellent IT and report writing/presentation skills We seek a seasoned HSE professional with a manufacturing background, who is looking to take a business from good to great.
